Jewish hitchhikers thwart Palestinian knifing attack

Two Israeli hitchhikers were attacked by a knife-wielding Palestinian Arab while waiting for a ride near the biblical Samarian town of Shilo on Monday.

The assailant reportedly came within inches of his intended victims under the guise of asking directions. He then tried to pull one of two knives from his pocket and stab the closest of the Israelis.

The Israeli, however, was armed with a handgun, and managed to shoot and kill the terrorist before he could cause any harm.

The attacker was later identified as a student at the Bir Zeit University in the de facto Palestinian capital of Ramallah.
