Israeli officials on Friday rejected an Egyptian-brokered temporary ceasefire with the Hamas terrorist infrastructure embedded in the Gaza Strip, calling the deal nothing more than a ruse to allow the terrorists to recuperate.
On Thursday, Hamas leaders announced that they had agreed to the Egyptian proposal, and would put an end to all rocket attacks on southern Israel for up to six months if Israel agreed to stop attacking terrorist forces based in Gaza.
However, Hamas spokesman Ayman Taha went on to validate Israel's opposition to the ceasefire, explaining in an interview with the Al-Arabiya news network that while Gaza-based terrorists would halt the rocket fire for the duration of the truce, they would continue their aggressive weapons smuggling efforts and the bolstering of the area's terrorist infrastructure.
