PA security forces ordered to prevent attacks

Monday, January 17, 2005 |

The Palestinian security forces in the Gaza Strip were ordered by the PA’s National Security Council and cabinet on Monday to prevent attacks on Israel. They said they would not tolerate attempts by some groups to harm the national interests of the Palestinians. The decision was taken during an emergency meeting of the two bodies, headed by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei and is seen as an attempt to ward off a major IDF operation in the Gaza Strip.
