Islamic Jihad terrorists drove a large truck loaded with four tons of explosives into the Erez Crossing terminal on the Gaza Strip's northern border early Thursday morning.
The explosion blew a hole in a pedestrian passage way that leads from the terminal into Gaza and created a huge crater in the ground. None of the Israeli soldiers manning the crossing were injured in the massive blast.
An Israeli army helicopter hovering over the scene immediately attacked a jeep that was apparently accompanying the bomb truck, destroying the vehicle and killing at least one of the terrorists riding in it. Army officials believe the terrorists following in the jeep planned to abduct Israelis soldiers stunned by the exploding truck.
