17-year-old wounded by Qassam clinically dead

Ella Abukasis, 17, who was critically wounded last Saturday when trying to protect her younger brother from a Qassam rocket attack, has been pronounced brain-dead by doctors at the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba. Hospital officials have said that her heart continues to beat but there are no longer signs of brain activity following her brain stem injury. Tamir Abukasis, 11, Ella’s younger brother, is to be released from the hospital on Tuesday.
