Between midday Thursday and midday Friday seven earthquakes shook southern Lebanon and northern Israel.
Two of the tremors struck on Friday morning, measuring 3.8 and 3.9 on the Richter Scale, respectively. The other five hit within the space of three hours on Thursday afternoon. The largest of the Thursday quakes measured 4.2 on the Richter Scale.
No injuries or damage were reported in Israel. It was still unclear by Friday afternoon if there were any injuries or damage in Lebanon, where all seven of the earthquakes were centered.
Israeli seismologists said that while the quick succession of tremors was alarming, it did not necessarily indicate that a large earthquake was about to hit the region.
