Israelis warned to get out of Egypt

Thursday, July 17, 2008 |  Israel Today Staff

The Counter Terrorism Bureau of Israel's National Security Council this week urgently warned Israelis vacationing in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula to return home.

According to intelligence cited by the bureau, Bedouin gangs roaming the Sinai have plans to immediately abduct Israelis and transfer them to regional terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hizballah.

It is believed that several hundred Israelis, mostly backpacking youth, are currently in the Sinai.

In the wake of Wednesday's prisoner exchange between Israel and Hizballah, Arab leaders from Ramallah to Gaza to Beirut have openly acknowledged that the best way to extract concessions from Israel is to abduct Israelis.
