The weather in Israel

Sunday, January 23, 2005 |

RAIN! There were plentiful rains over the Sabbath and more are expected today. It’s a tremendous boon after a very dry December, and the water tables are finally beginning to rise. The Sea of Galilee, Israel’s biggest reservoir, rose by 4 cm. (1.5 inches) over the weekend and stands at 1.88 meters (74 inches) below its maximum level. However, the lake has only risen by 13 cm. (5 inches) since the beginning of the winter rainy season. January and February are crucial months for rain, so please pray for more heavy showers to fill up all the depleted aquifers and reservoirs. Highs for today: Jerusalem: 56F (13C); Tel Aviv: 62F (17C); Eilat: 64F (18C).
