Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas is awaiting Israel’s response to his cease-fire offer, after he won the agreement of terrorist groups to suspend attacks. Palestinian negotiator Ziad Abu Amr said Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other armed factions are prepared to halt the suicide bombings and shootings that have killed hundreds of Israelis. "They will continue doing that for some time to see if Israel is ready to accept demands and abide by the truce," Abu Amr told the Voice of Palestinian Radio. Abbas says he won’t declare a formal truce until Israel guarantees that the army will halt operations against the Palestinians.
