Palestinians prepare to honor freed terrorist killer

The government of Western-backed Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas is preparing a hero's welcome in its capital of Ramallah for a terrorist killer about to be released by Israel as part of a larger goodwill gesture.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is expected to order the release of 200 Palestinian security prisoners in the coming days. Among them will be two terrorists with "blood on their hands" - men who have successfully murdered Israeli Jews.

One of those men, Said Atba, was captured and jailed 32 years ago after he brutally murdered one Israeli and wounded dozens more during an attack on a grocery store in central Israel.

After being joyously received in Ramallah, Atba will continue to his hometown of Nablus where another celebration is being prepared in his honor.

The Palestinian Authority, while claiming to have renounced the use and glorification of anti-Israel terrorism, regularly exalts deceased and captured terrorists as local heroes and role models for Palestinian children.
