El Al warned about Hizballah threat to flights

Thursday, September 04, 2008 |  Israel Today Staff

The Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) this week warned El Al and two other Israeli airlines to be increasingly vigilant against Hizballah efforts to attack their flight crews and planes abroad.

The warning came in the wake of the recent discovery of a Hizballah cell that had been tracking an El Al flight crew in Toronto.

Israeli security officials fear that Hizballah will also target Israeli business men and women traveling abroad.

Hizballah has repeatedly threatened to strike Israeli interests abroad in retaliation for the February assassination of the group's operational chief in Damascus. Israel denied any involvement in the car bomb blast that killed Imad Mughniyeh.
