Israel: Hizballah using Facebook to spy on us

Friday, September 05, 2008 |  Israel Today Staff

Israeli intelligence officials say they increasingly fear that Lebanese terror group Hizballah is using the online social network Facebook to spy on young, unwitting Israeli soldiers.

According to Yeshiva World News, the Israeli army is taking greater efforts to educate soldiers on avoiding making friends with and revealing seemingly innocent, but potentially damaging information, to terrorists in disguise.

The greatest fear is that terrorists will make friends with soldiers via Facebook and eventually set up in-person meetings in order to kidnap the young Israelis.

Recently, an Israeli soldier who belongs to an army intelligence unit was jailed for 19 days for posting a photo of his base on Facebook.
