Hamas television broadcasting from Temple Mount

Monday, September 08, 2008 |  Israel Today Staff

The Hamas terrorist organization's television station has for the past several days been broadcasting exclusive coverage of nightly Ramadan prayers from atop Jerusalem's Temple Mount.

As a terrorist organization, it is illegal for Hamas or its Al Aqsa television network to operate in Jerusalem or any other Israeli town.

WorldNetDaily's Aaron Klein reported that Israeli police officials refused to comment when asked if Al Aqsa TV was operating on the Temple Mount in coordination with Israeli authorities.

Klein was the first to report last December when Hamas' radio station began broadcasting from the Temple Mount and Israeli authorities threatened to shut down the operation. The broadcasts continued for at least several weeks after the police were made aware of the situation.

In recent years Israel has refused to act against Muslim violations on the Temple Mount out of fear of the expected violent reaction. The government has been accused by many Israelis of having already surrendered Judaism's holiest site.
