Thursday, January 27, 2005 |

Leaders from 30 countries gathered at the Auschwitz death camp in Poland today, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of its liberation by allied forces during World War II. "The story of the camps shows that evil is real and must be called by its name and must be confronted," said US Vice President Dick Cheney. Some 1.5 million people were killed by the Nazis at Auschwitz, including at least a million Jews.
