Egypt will attack Israel, warns lawmaker

Israeli lawmaker and former Minister of Strategic Affairs Avigdor Lieberman on Saturday warned that Egypt is just waiting for an opportunity to move its army back into the Sinai Peninsula and threaten Israel militarily.

During an interview on Channel 2's "Meet the Press," Lieberman asserted that Egypt is planning to violate its peace agreement with Israel, and was liable to eventually launch a surprise attack against the Jewish state as it did in 1973.

"There are enough signs and enough assessments that Egypt is waiting for the right moment," said Lieberman.

The interview was part of Lieberman's election campaign ahead of February's general election.
