The British government this week urged other European Union member states to more clearly identify Israeli goods produced in Judea and Samaria as "settler" products, and to ensure that tariff exemptions on Israeli goods from inside the pre-1967 borders do not apply to them.
Britain's The Independent reported that the letter sent to 27 other EU members raised concerns that a current label identifying goods as having been produced in the "West Bank" may mislead consumers into thinking they are Palestinian Arab products.
Israeli officials cited by Ha'aretz worried that the move is a diplomatic effort by Britain to pressure Israel into halting the construction of all Jewish homes in Judea and Samaria - lands claimed in their entirety by the Palestinian Authority.
