Peres: Israel must close its eyes to make peace

Monday, November 17, 2008 |  Israel Today Staff

Israeli President Shimon Peres on Monday acknowledged the nonsensical nature of the land-for-peace process Israel is currently engaged in with the Arabs.

In an address in Jerusalem to the General Assembly of the United Jewish Communities, the largest Diaspora Jewish organization, Peres explained that "making peace is a little bit like marriage - you have to close your eyes and accept what is possible to accept."

Peres went on to state his belief that by surrendering Israel's biblical heartland for the creation of a Palestinian Arab state a regional domino effect would be started that would ultimately isolate the Iranian regime and other extremists.
