Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon will hold his first summit meeting with the new Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas next Tuesday in Egypt. The summit will be hosted by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak at the Red Sea resort of Sharm el- Sheikh. Jordan's King Abdullah II will also attend. “We don't know whether it will be successful, but we want to give it a chance,” said Israeli spokesman Avi Pazner. “There is a new leadership on the Palestinian side who seems to be eager to show that they mean business.” The summit comes amid efforts to arrange a cease-fire and an Israeli pullout from five towns in Judea and Samaria.
