More Hamas war crimes: Mosques as arms depots

Monday, January 12, 2009 |  Israel Today Staff

Israeli troops operating near Gaza City on Monday reported being fired on by Hamas terrorists from the windows of a nearby mosque.

After returning fire and searching the premises, the Israelis found a cache of small arms, mortar shells and Kassam rockets in the mosque.

Article 53 of the Protocol Additional to the Geneva Conventions explicitly forbids the use of places of worship "in support of the military effort" or to "make such objects the objects of reprisals."
