Jimmy Carter: Pro-Israel means anti-peace

Sunday, February 08, 2009 |  Israel Today Staff

Former US President Jimmy Carter was at it again at the weekend, claiming in an interview with the Houston Chronicle that those who are strong pro-Israel advocates simply don't want peace in the Middle East.

Carter first informed the newspaper that he more than anyone else knows and is familiar with the vast array of players in the Middle East conflict.

He then went on to state matter-of-factly that "the major Israeli lobbies, they're not in favor of peace."

Carter charged that groups like the America-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and the numerous Christian Zionist organizations have never professed to support peace, and are instead only concerned with "protecting the policies of whatever government is in charge in Israel."
