Coffee and Talk: Jerusalem congregation broadcasts news updates on the web

Tuesday, February 10, 2009 |  Nicole Jansezian

In one of Jerusalem's many cafes, a congregation in Jerusalem has found a unique way to give as close as possible to a five-sense experience of Israel through five-minute news updates from the Holy Land.

King of Kings pastor Wayne Hilsden and associate pastor Ron Cantor have begun filming news updates from Avraham's Cafe in downtown Jerusalem. In "Israel News and Views," they cover the headlines in Israel and also the happenings among the body of believers around the country.

"We wanted Evangelical Christians around the world to have an honest, accurate picture of what is happening in Israel," Cantor told Israel Today.

In addition to the relevant issues of the day, the ambience includes all of the chaos of a typical Jerusalem day--hundreds of passersby, shoppers heading to the outdoor market and drivers inching past the cafe window in the routine traffic of Israel's capital.

"(Viewers) don't just see me and Wayne, they see people walking by from all walks of life, Orthodox and secular Jews... plus the traffic and horns blowing in the background," Cantor said. "They don't just hear the news, they taste Jerusalem."

The news updates can be found at the congregation's website: www.kkcj.org. The team makes up to five segments a week and close each with prayer.
