The weather in Israel

Sunday, February 06, 2005 |

RAIN in most of the country and SNOW on Mt. Hermon in the Golan Heights. These rare days of precious rain are welcome after little precipitation in the months of December and January. The Sea of Galilee, Israel’s biggest reservoir rose by a whopping 17 cm. (7 inches) over the Sabbath--one-third of what the lake has risen during the entire winter! The lake is now 1.54 meters (5 feet) below its maximum level. Please pray for abundant rains in February and March to fill up the lake and all the depleted aquifers and reservoirs. Highs for today: Jerusalem: 48F (9C); Tel Aviv: 59F (15C); Eilat: 64F (18C).
