Israeli raid on Sudan a warning to Iran

Senior Israeli military sources confirmed to Time Magazine this week that Israel had indeed carried out a large-scale aerial raid in Sudan in January, and called the operation a warning to Iran.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the sources revealed that, contrary to earlier reports, dozens of manned and unmanned Israeli aircraft took part in the raid. The objective, as previously reported, was the destruction of at least one, and possibly three, convoys transporting Iranian-made long-range missiles to the Gaza Strip.

Israel was only alerted to the arms shipment a week in advance, leaving very little time for planning. That such a large-scale and distant operation was planned and successfully executed on such short notice spoke volumes about Israel's ability to strike other regional threats.

The sources also refuted Sudanese claims that US forces were involved in the raid, saying that while Washington was informed of the action, American forces played no direct role.
