Israeli fighter jets were scrambled to intercept a Delta Airlines flight to Tel Aviv on Saturday after the pilot failed to make contact with air traffic controllers at Ben Gurion Airport.

Israeli security officials feared the plane had been hijacked upon its approach to Tel Aviv. Air force pilots who made visual contact with the pilot were informed that a technical malfunction had prevented communication with the control tower.
