Holland's second largest parliamentary faction and a member of the ruling coalition, the Dutch Labor Party, last week urged the government to impose sanctions against Israel if the latter does not rapidly agree to Arab demands leading to the birth of a Palestinian Arab state.
As part of the demands sent to the Dutch Foreign Ministry, Labor Party officials insisted that Israel must accept Hamas as a negotiation partner, even before the terror group has renounced its goal of destroying the Jewish state, and said that Holland and the rest of Europe should stop blacklisting Hamas.
The full demands of the Labor Party are not expected to be adopted as the ruling CDA party is seen to be largely a supporter of Israel, though pressure from such an important coalition partner could alter the government's overall approach to the Middle East peace process.
