Jews will be exterminated, promises Palestinian cleric

In a recent Friday sermon broadcast on Hamas television to all Palestinian Arabs, a Hamas-aligned cleric promised that very soon all Jews, including young children, will be violently removed from the face of the earth.

Speaking to Muslim worshippers at a mosque in Gaza, Imam Ziad Abu Alhaj declared:

"The time will come, by Allah's will, when their property will be destroyed and their children will be exterminated, and no Jew or Zionist will be left on the face of this earth."

As justification for this brutal annihilation, Alhaj preached that all Jews, and especially Israelis, seek world domination and are the mortal enemies of Islam.

In 2006, Alhaj participated in the Second World Congress of Imams and Rabbis for Peace, which issued a statement condemning "any incitement against a faith or people, let alone any call for their elimination."

Observers noted that Alhaj's two-faced approach to Israel and the Jews - calling for peace in front of the rest of the world, while preaching Israel's destruction in Arabic to fellow Arabs - is characteristic of most who call themselves Israel's "peace partners."
