Gaza border crossing reopened

Wednesday, February 09, 2005 |

Israel reopened a Gaza border crossing, allowing 1,500 Palestinians to go to their jobs in the Jewish state. The Erez terminal was closed after it was targeted by Palestinian suicide bombers, but in the wake of the truce, Israel plans to increase the number of work permits to ease the economic plight of the Palestinians. Some 100,000 Gazans lost their jobs when Israel shut its borders after the Palestinian terror war erupted over four years ago.
