Prime Minister Ariel Sharon says he’s prepared to release Palestinian prisoners with blood on their hands, in order to prop up Abbas and help him win popular support on the Palestinian street. Sharon told Israel’s biggest newspaper “Yediot Ahronot” that if the Gaza withdrawal goes quietly this summer, he would release larger numbers of Palestinians involved in deadly attacks. Critics say that letting murderers out of jail sends the wrong message to terrorists, namely, that you can kill and under the next interim “peace” deal you’ll walk away scot-free. Israel plans to release 900 prisoners who do not have blood on their hands, beginning with 500 next week.
