Israel uproots ‘Obama’ settlement outpost

Sunday, June 14, 2009 |  Israel Today Staff

Israeli security forces on Sunday forcibly uprooted a small Jewish outpost cynically named after US President Barack Obama to avoid any embarrassment for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his big peace policy speech later in the evening.

Obama has firmly demanded that Israel halt all Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria. Many Israelis are urging Netanyahu to reject those hard line demands.

Responding to the removal of the “Obama” outpost in Samaria, Jewish settler activist Baruch Marzel told Israel National News, “Netanyahu should remember that the people of Israel chose him as their leader – he is not an appointee of Barack Obama.”
