Rising Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders on Friday cautioned Israel that the European Union is not its friend, and will not lift a finger to curb the Iranian threat against the Jewish state.
The European Union is “one-sided and always against Israel,” Wilders told The Jerusalem Post. “Nothing will happen if Israel depends on the Europeans” to stop Iran's genocidal threats.
Wilders’ Dutch Freedom Party made an impressive showing during last week’s vote on Dutch representation in the EU parliament, garnering 17 percent of the vote and coming in second only to the ruling Christian Democratic Alliance.
Wilders made a name for himself in Israel and on the international stage several years ago with his short Internet film “Fitna,” which highlights the violent nature of Islam and urges Muslims to reject those parts of their religion that condone and call for the murder of others.
