Abbas fires three Gaza security chiefs

In an attempt to assert his authority, Abbas fired three Gaza security chiefs and six other officers who failed to prevent the shelling of the settlements. "Nobody can shirk their duties, and measures will be taken to boost the capability of the security services in accordance with decisions taken at the political level," said Jibril Rajoub, a Palestinian security chief based in Hebron.
