Israel's Cabinet has approved the release of 500 Palestinian prisoners this week--the latest Israeli gesture aimed at strengthening the cease-fire declared in Egypt last week. "This is not an easy step, but this gesture possibly could help the Palestinian Authority solidify its rule and boost trust between the two sides," Prime Minister Ariel Sharon told ministers. Another 400 prisoners will be freed later. However, that is not enough for the Palestinians who want the release of all 8,000 prisoners in Israeli jails. Israel says hardcore terrorists with blood on their hands will not be freed.
