As Israel's government continues to struggle to come up with enough money to handle the nation's huge expenses, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyhau and his 29 ministers have agreed to all take a 5 percent pay cut.
Under the cuts, Netanyahu's salary will be reduced to about $10,000 a month, and his ministers will now make about $8,500 a month.
In addition to needing to cover education, infrastructure, welfare and the health costs incurred by a universal health care system, Israel is also forced to maintain a disproportionately large defense budget. The result is a long and bitter fight over the national budget every year.
