A knife-wielding Palestinian terrorist attacked an army patrol in the Biblical town of Hebron, rattling a fragile cease-fire declared last week. The army says a soldier shot and killed the assailant. There were no Israeli casualties in the attack that occurred near the Tomb of the Patriarchs. Two knives lay next to the body of the terrorist, who carried no identification. There was no claim of responsibility. The attack underscores the fragility of the truce. Many terrorists are not subject to any central authority, and Islamic groups can always claim that Israel’s killing of the man was a violation of the cease-fire.
