Israelis urged to buy 'Blue and White'

Israel's Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry is set to launch a massive campaign urging Israelis of all ages to buy Israeli-made products as a means of bolstering the local economy and stemming rising unemployment as the global economic crisis continues.

The campaign will consist of television commercials and other media promotions, educational seminars at Israeli schools and the establishment of a "Blue and White headquarters" at the ministry, reported The Jerusalem Post.

Tzvia Dori, director of the ministry's domestic trade administration, told the Post that every billion shekels spent on Israeli-made products results in the creation of 2,750 jobs. Creating jobs and saving existing jobs is the goal of the campaign, said Dori.
