Lebanese authorities on Friday returned to Israel and Israeli man who had crossed the border on Tuesday morning.

Israeli forces identified someone touching the electronic border fence on Tuesday morning, but by the time a patrol arrived at the scene, the man had jumped the fence and entered southern Lebanon.

He was immediately taken into custody by Lebanese intelligence forces and detained for questioning for several days. The man, who was later described as mentally ill, was not carrying identification and refused to cooperate with his Lebanese interrogators.

After determining the man did not pose a threat to Lebanese security, he was transferred back to Israel via the UN peacekeeping force deployed in southern Lebanon.
