Egyptian border guards on Wednesday shot and killed four more African refugees who were trying to cross the border into southern Israel. Another two Africans were shot and wounded, one critically.
Wednesday's shooting was the deadliest confrontation between Egyptian forces and African migrants trying to reach Israel to date.
Dozens of African refugees have been gunned down in cold blood by Egyptian forces along the border over the past few years. Rights groups have complained, but little action has been taken to prevent Egypt from carrying out the brutal murders.
Egypt maintains that it is only responding to its own security needs and Israeli pressure to stem the flow of unauthorized African migrants into the Jewish state, and that using deadly force to halt the migrants at the border is the only way of doing so.
The incidents have also failed to attract much media attention around the world, resulting in little response from world leaders.
