Jordanian ambassador to return

Wednesday, February 16, 2005 |

Jordan will return its ambassador to Israel on Sunday, normalizing diplomatic ties after a four-year hiatus. Jordan and Egypt recalled their ambassadors in protest over Israeli military actions at the start of the Palestinian terror war in 2000. But following the death of Yasser Arafat, ties between Israel and the new Palestinian leadership have improved. That's changed the atmosphere in the Middle East, and Egypt has also promised to return its ambassador to Tel Aviv.
