Settler compensation

Thursday, February 17, 2005 |

The bill passed by the Knesset allocates 3.8 billion shekels ($871 million) for the approximately 9,000 settlers who will be expelled. The compensation for a family with two children who own a home will be around $300,000. People with businesses and bigger families will receive more. Following the Knesset vote, about 200 Gaza families prepared to file compensation claims. Other settlers, however, refuse to accept the government’s decision and plan to resist to the bitter end.
