Israel demands UN do something about Gaza rockets

Sunday, October 04, 2009 |  Israel Today Staff

As the UN continues to debate a controversial report accusing Israel of war crimes in its most recent large-scale military response to the Gaza rocket threat, Israel is desperately trying to draw attention to the fact that rocket attacks from the Hamas-ruled territory have resumed.

Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gabriela Shalev lodged an official complaint with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Saturday, noting that during the previous month 13 rockets were fired from Gaza into southern Israel. Additionally, Israeli soldiers foiled numerous attempts to plan bombs along the Gaza security fence.

Last week Israel decided to upgrade its military response to the rocket fire, and began targeting Gaza-based rocket crews and other terrorist positions in pinpoint aerial strikes.
