Arabs attack Israeli ambulance sent to help one of their own

Tuesday, October 27, 2009 |  Israel Today Staff

An Israeli ambulance team called in to help an Arab woman who had suffered a heart attack in eastern Jerusalem on Sunday found itself under heavy attack by Arab stone throwers as it tried to revive the woman.

The driver of the ambulance told Arutz 7 radio that as soon as he and the other medics began working on the woman, a mob of Arabs involved in the day-long riots in the nearby Old City approached and began pelting them with stones. Israeli Border Police were forced to step in and defend the ambulance crew.

The driver said during the ordeal he noticed a cameraman from the pan-Arab news network Al Jazeera and asked him to film what was happening. But the cameraman refused and instead packed up his gear and drove away in the middle of the assault.
