The Palestinians are angry over yesterday’s Cabinet decision to include two big Jewish settlement blocs near Jerusalem on the Israeli side of the security barrier in Judea and Samaria. To do that Israel must confiscate about 7 percent of land in the disputed territories. "Israel is creating facts on the ground in the West Bank," said Palestinian legislator Hanan Ashrawi. "[Prime Minister Ariel] Sharon wants payback in the West Bank for the disengagement from Gaza, particularly Jerusalem." The Palestinians say it's de-facto annexation. They fear that impoverished, overpopulated and violent Gaza may be all they're going to get.
