Jerusalem Arabs jailed for planning to kidnap soldiers

Two brothers from an Arab neighborhood in eastern Jerusalem were given two years in jail on Wednesday for planning to kidnap Israelis soldiers stationed in the area.

According to the charges, the brothers planned to crash a tractor into an Israeli military vehicle stationed on the outskirts of their neighborhood and abduct the stunned soldiers inside. They then intended to instigate a prisoner exchange for two of their family members serving time in Israeli jails for terrorist activity.

Various Israeli organizations representing the victims of Palestinian terror have warned that lopsided prisoner exchanges like that being negotiated for Gilad Shalit only encourage the abduction of more Israelis. Israel is reportedly ready to free 1,000 jailed terrorists for Shalit.

Palestinian media outlets have confirmed that the above is true.
