Israeli officials this week told Ha'aretz that they are deeply concerned about new arms deals signed between the administration of US President Barack Obama and several neighboring Arab states.
The deals will see advanced offensive and defensive weaponry sold to Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates. Among the items included in the deals are bunker-busting bombs, anti-tank missiles and anti-ship cruise missiles.
Many Israelis argue that the only use for offensive weapons in the hands of these nations would be to attack the Jewish state, as has happened at least four times in the past 60 years.
The Obama Administration insisted that the deals will not alter the balance of power between Israel and the Arabs, but will create greater deterrence against a nuclear-armed Iran.
The details of the various deals have been posted to the Pentagon website.
