Israeli diplomats attacked in Jordan

Friday, January 15, 2010 |  Israel Today Staff

Muslim terrorists detonated a roadside bomb against two Israeli diplomatic vehicles on Thursday as they traveled from the Jordanian capital of Amman to the Allenby Bridge crossing into Israel.

Four Israeli diplomats and two security guards were in the vehicles. No one was injured in the blast.

A day later, Jordanian papers reported that a local cab driver had been arrested on suspicion of planting the bomb. Pan-Arab television networks Al Arabiya and Al Jazeera linked the terrorist to Al Qaeda, and warned that additional attempts on Israelis in Jordan would be made.

Israeli officials said it was becoming increasingly difficult to secure Israeli assets and diplomats in neighboring Arab countries.
