Israeli warplanes strike Gaza Strip

Monday, March 22, 2010 |  Israel Today Staff

Israeli warplanes attacked terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip on Monday morning in response to weekend rocket attacks against southern Israel.

Palestinian terrorists operating out of Gaza have fired 16 rockets and mortar shells at communities in southern Israel since the start of last week. One of the attacks left a 30-year-old foreign laborer dead. Several others, including children, have been treated for shock.

The residents of southern Israel increasingly fear a resumption of daily rocket attacks on their communities. They lived under such conditions for nearly a year before Israel launched Operation Cast Lead and invaded the Gaza Strip in December 2008. The international community continues to harshly condemn that action, while putting very little blame on the Palestinians.
