The city of Beverly Hills on Sunday officially renamed one of its streets after Theodor Herzl, the 19th century Zionist philosopher who is credited as the father of the modern State of Israel.
The ceremony dedicating Herzl Way was attended by hundreds of locals, including a large contingent of Jewish youth.
Beverly Hills is a sister city to the Israeli coastal town of Herzliya, also named after Herzl. Beverly Hills Mayor Jimmy Delshad, himself a Jew of Iranian descent, came up with the idea to rename the street during a recent visit to Herzliya.
