Abbas says he won’t tolerate terrorist attacks

Monday, February 28, 2005 |
Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has again condemned the terrorist attack in Tel Aviv. "As far as the suicide bombing last Friday, such actions will not be tolerated by us as they are against the Palestinian interests," Abbas told Britain's “Independent” newspaper. But Israel says that's not enough, and Abbas must dismantle terrorist groups like Hamas and Islamic Jihad. “We are sick and tired of excuses; we need some action,” said Israeli spokesman Ra'anan Gissin. Abbas fears confronting the powerful terrorist groups head on, but Israel has warned that there will be no peace talks on Palestinian statehood until he does.
