Mixed Palestinian reaction to Tel Aviv bombing

Monday, February 28, 2005 |

There’s been mixed reaction to the Tel Aviv bombing among ordinary Palestinians. People on the street in Ramallah told an Israeli television reporter that they are sick and tired of the bombings and they want a return to normalcy and peace and quiet. In Hebron, however, about 1,000 students wearing masks and carrying toy guns marched in the streets in support of the bombing. They chanted slogans such as: "Our beloved Jihad blew up Tel Aviv," and "No peace with Israelis." Bloodied effigies of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and President George W. Bush lay “dead” on the ground.
