Israel may begin Judea and Samaria pullout this week

Monday, March 07, 2005 |

Palestinian officials say Israel has agreed to pullout of Tulkarem this week, the first of five towns in Judea and Samaria slated for handover to the Palestinian Authority. Israel says an agreement could be reached when Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz meets with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas tomorrow. Israel agreed to hand over the towns before a groundbreaking summit in Egypt last month, but the pullout was postponed after a Palestinian suicide bomber killed five Israelis in Tel Aviv 10 days ago.
